The deadly bombings that struck late on Tuesday could derail improvements that had been expected to follow President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s efforts to mend relations with Russia and Israel. Turkey Consumer Inflation Climbs More Than Estimates on Food
Turkey’s consumer price inflation climbed more than estimated in June, led by a surge in food prices. The annual inflation rate was 7.64 percent last month compared with 6.58 percent in May, Turkey’s state statistics institute said Monday. The median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of economists forecast the rate to rise to 6.94 percent. Food prices rose an annual 6.63 percent through June, compared with 2.47 percent in May.

Turkey’s biggest mobile phone operator, Turkcell, plans an ambitious global buying spree to offset slowing growth in its home Turkish market. The Istanbul-based company, formally known as Turkcell Iletisim Hizmetleri AS, aims to boost revenues by expanding along an arc encompassing North Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia, Chief Executive Kaan Terzioglu said in an interview.

Turkish business world condemns terror attack at Istanbul airport
Turkey’s business world has condemned and expressed sorrow over the deadly suicide attack at Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport late on June 28. The Turkish Business and Industry Association (TÜSİAD) condemned the attack, calling it “treacherous.” “Like all inhumane attacks we have sadly witnessed in recent days, this attack also targeted the peace of our country, the international community and the order of a democratic and open society,” TÜSİAD said in a statement.
