Turkish President Abdullah Gul extended his condolences to President Barack Obama following hurricane Sandy. Gul said, “In the name of the Turkish people I extend to you – the people of our friend and ally, the United States – our heartfelt condolences.”
The Anatolian News Agency reported that Gul said, “As
the President of a nation that has many times suffered the pain of natural disasters, we sincerely share the pain caused by this catastrophe. I congratulate you for displaying astute
leadership and preventing this disaster from turning into greater suffering. In the name of the Turkish people I extend to you – the people of our friend and ally, the United States – our heartfelt condolences.”
