The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) releases new analyses by Prof. Bülent Aras on
U.S.-Turkey relations during the new Obama administration, and by Amberin Zaman on the murder of three female activists from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Paris.
In his analysis titled “Turkish-U.S. Relations: The Way Forward”; Prof. Aras presents a cautious optimism regarding the future of U.S.-Turkey relations, he argues
that the outcome will depend on both sides’ ability to institutionalize relations with a better understanding of each other’s positions vis-à-vis the region’s revolutionary changes and challenges.
In her analysis brief “Turkey and the Kurds: The Blood-Stained Path to Peace”; Zaman analyses the murder of three female activists from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Paris and points at Iran as the most likely suspect among others. Zaman argues that if the murderers targeted disrupting the peace process between Turkey and the PKK, the outcome has been just the opposite.
